Svend White had an interesting post which attracted a tangential critique from irascible old Lounsbury, on the matter of transliteration (note: NOT translation) from Arabic to English. The irony of Lounsbury taking someone to task for being pretentious aside, the discussion at Aqoul actually got interesting enough for me to chime in. Also check out Willow's commentary at Eteraz.
